Dr. Turin has presented at many National and Regional medical meetings, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Midwestern Association of Plastic Surgeons.

 

Rachel Sarshalom, MOT, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist, Owner

Rachel Sarshalom, MOT, OTR/L is a pediatric occupational therapist born and raised in Miami, Florida. She received her Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Florida in 2005 and her Masters in Occupational Therapy from the University of Florida in 2006. She is bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish. She has worked in pediatrics for over 10 years in the acute care hospital setting, working with inpatients and outpatients, as well as the home health and school settings.

While working in the hospital setting, she received extensive training in evaluating and treating a myriad of diagnoses such as: delayed infant milestones, hypotonia, prematurity, developmental delay, autism, sensory processing disorders, attention deficit disorder, coordination disorders, fine motor delay, visual motor difficulties, handwriting difficulties, cerebral palsy, hemiplegia, brachial plexus injuries, orthopedic injuries, Down syndrome, neurological injuries, genetic and congenital anomalies, traumatic brain injuries, stroke, cancer, infectious diseases, and spinal cord injuries.

Rachel was a leader in her department as a clinical coordinator for several specialized programs, liaison of the student program, and lecturer in many continuing education courses. After dedicating many years in the hospital setting, Rachel founded Hands Up Therapy, which treats patients in the home or school setting.

Rachel is an enthusiastic, dedicated and dependable therapist who takes pride in educating others, especially her clients and families. She believes that treating the family is just as important as treating the individual child in order to ensure excellent carry over and optimize the success of her clients. Rachel brings an extraordinary knowledge base and deeply diverse experience to Hands Up Therapy in order to provide exceptional service to her clients and families.

 

Radhika PatelRadhika Patel, O.D., Private Practice, Full-Scope Optometry

Dr. Radhika Patel grew up in Indianapolis, IN. She attended Loyola University Chicago for her undergraduate studies before her early acceptance into optometry school. She graduated cum laude from Illinois College of Optometry with a Bachelors Degree in Vision Science along with her Doctorate of Optometry in 2013. During her clinical rotations, she excelled in vision therapy, pediatric examinations and fitting specialty contact lenses. She has also participated in many school vision screenings to prevent children from falling behind due to poor vision.

Dr. Patel is a member of the Ocular Nutrition Society, Tomb and Key Honor Society and Infantsee program. She served as the North Suburban President of the Illinois Optometric Association for 2 years where she organized meetings and educational courses for optometrists in the area to keep them up to date with the continuing changes in the field of optometry.

Growing up in an all natural, Ayurvedic-influenced lifestyle, Dr. Patel often integrates this natural approach when treating her patient’s eye and whole body wellness. She is a firm advocate that lifestyle changes stem from proper patient education. She feels strongly about preventative health care versus reactive.

 

Sia MoodySia Moody, Moderator

Dr Moody attended Colby College on a full scholarship, receiving her BA in 1993. While studying abroad, she completed an internship in Neurosurgery at the University of Salamanca Hospital with Dr. Angel Maillo.
In 1998, Sia graduated from Rush Medical School located in Chicago. The majority of her core clerkships were completed at Rush Hospital, with Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine completed at Cook County Hospital and Obstetrics and Gynecology completed at Illinois Masonic Hospital.
Sia has worked with the American Medical Association, with significant voiceover work in medical narration.
