To help raise funds for pediatric cancer research, MC2 hosted an Alex’s Lemonade Stand during the Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association’s (HCEA) Annual Meeting June 13-16 in Tampa. MC2 provided free lemonade and with the promise to make a donation on behalf of each visitor to its booth during the show. MC2 staff served nearly 100 glasses of lemonade, raising $1,500 for the cause.
The event coincided with National Lemonade Days, an annual fundraising effort that grew out of Alexandra “Alex” Scott’s front yard lemonade stand. During Lemonade Days, dedicated volunteers host thousands of Alex's Lemonade Stands across the country, annually raising more than $1 million for childhood cancer research – all in one weekend.
“Fundamentally, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is about building something that unites families and their communities to work towards a common goal and make a difference. These are the core values that drive how MC2 engages with our customers, employees and within our local communities,” said Scott Williams, Division President, MC2 Chicago. “We are pleased to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand and to help in the fight against childhood cancer.”
MC2 designed and built its booth around a bright yellow Alex’s Lemonade Stand. A mural of blue skies, green trees and a white picket fence expands across a 20ft back wall constructed from components of MC2’s EcoFlex Exhibit System, a flexible, environmentally friendly rental solution for customized exhibits. The outdoor setting is completed with potted plants, a picnic table, and green flooring.
In addition to its stand at HCEA, MC2 employees are hosting lemonade stands throughout the summer months in local communities including Atlanta, GA; Kingman, AZ; and Pen Argyl, PA.
Founded in 2000, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 charity. To date, the organization has raised more than $25 million towards fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure for all childhood cancer, funding over 100 research projects nationally.
