The top 20 healthcare meeting destinations in the U.S. over the last ten years hosted 51.3% of all reported healthcare meetings.
Large healthcare meetings and conventions can be accommodated by a limited number of locations, thus impacting the representation of those cities. However, since over half of all reported healthcare meetings take place in these cities, these are the most likely locations where convention costs will be incurred. Thus, knowing where meetings are held is helpful in managing costs, forecasting expenses and planning strategies. For example, the costs associated with labor can vary widely from city to city.
In 2006, 46.9% of all reported healthcare meetings took place in the top 20 destinations. Compared to the averages of all reported meetings held in 2006, meetings held in the top 20 destinations, on average, reported 41% more professional attendance and 57.1% more total attendance.
